The Bradford Skills Show Experience – latest news on activities, competitions and funding available

This free-to-attend interactive skills and careers event for young people aged 14 to 25 years old is taking place between 9.30am and 6pm on 3 July 2014 at Valley Parade in Bradford. The event is supported by The Skills Show, the European Social Fund and the National Careers Service. A copy of the delegate flyer is in this link – http://goo.gl/vB79zy.

We have secured a wide range of local and national businesses and training providers to take part in the event. ‘Have a go’ activities include:

· A training rig for young people to practice electrical and plumbing skills
· A engineering challenge to create a network of pipes to a specified design which is then pumped with water, the objective being to get the water in one side, and out the other, without soaking yourself in the process
· A showcase of carpentry, horticulture and decorating skills
· An opportunity to see the latest welding simulation technology and take part in a related competition
· A forensic science activity, involving latest crime scene investigation techniques
· Spotlight talks about particular industry sectors
· Sessions to develop critical thinking/analysis skills
· Practical skills workshops relating to hairdressing, beauty therapy services and nails
· The use of puppets to promote understanding of diversity and equality

Many more similar activities and challenges will be running at the event, and there will be three sessions throughout the day to choose from, starting at 9.30am, 12.30 and 3.30pm

Please give me a shout if you would like to attend.
