Appointment of the new County Lead Volunteer
I’m really pleased to share that I have asked Toby Hammond to become the next County Lead Volunteer for West Yorkshire.
Toby brings to the role a wealth of talent, enthusiasm and experience from his previous roles as County Youth Lead, HQ Team Member and a Trustee, and his professional experience working with the Department of Education. Toby is passionate about helping both adult volunteers and youth members thrive in Scouts. He supports volunteers in delivering inspiring and adventurous programmes while empowering young members to shape their own experiences, ensuring they gain the most from our fantastic movement.
Toby will be working with Ian Womersley to handover the role over the next month and Toby will formally start as County Lead Volunteer the 1st May.
Toby’s appointment follows a selection process we ran during February and March and I’d like to thank everyone who applied for the role, nominated someone else and the search team who supported me.
I’d like to thank Ian for the support he’s given to the County over the last five years. Ian’s achievements include a huge focus on opening Squirrel Dreys, significant growth across the whole of the County and successfully bidding for investment from the Underrepresented Communities Fund. He has also championed community engagement through partnerships with Bradford University and Jo Cox Foundation, and built a strong County team around him, to name just a few achievements.
Please join me in welcoming Toby into his new role from the beginning of May, and in thanking Ian for his superb contribution to West Yorkshire Scouts.
Thanks,
Ian Hammond
