BEAR GRYLLS TO CONTINUE AS CHIEF SCOUT
Dear Colleagues,
I am really delighted to advise you that our UK Chief Scout, Bear Grylls, has been reappointed in this role until 2018. He will use this time over the next few years to continue to be an amazing ambassador for Scouting, highlighting the life changing opportunities we offer young people and to express our thanks to you, our adult volunteers, who deliver everyday adventure to nearly half a million young people across the UK. Bear will also continue to be an incredibly important part of how we encourage more adults to volunteer for Scouting in the future, using his ever growing profile in the media and popularity with the public to help the Movement grow and diversify further.
You will find in your copy of the April/May Scouting magazine more information on Bear continuing in his role. This issue of the magazine is adventure-themed and there’s an article from the Chief Scout himself, where he tells us about his inspirations, his passion for the outdoors and his love of all things Scouting. You can also view a news story on scouts.org.uk.
Bear has made such an incredible contribution to the Movement since taking on the role of UK Chief Scout in 2009 and has really helped us to expand Scouting within Britain’s local communities. He is already looking forward to congratulating the latest young achievers of the Queen Scout Award at our ‘Day of Celebration and Achievement’ event at Windsor Castle in late April and taking part in an action packed weekend of Scouting activities in East Midlands region of England during May.
Yours sincerely,
Wayne Bulpitt
