Every group in the District has a Group Lead Volunteer appointed by the District Lead Volunteer. Being a Group Lead Volunteer is all about providing direction and support to develop Bradford North’s local groups. Each Group Lead Volunteer is assigned to one group and represents, leads, manages and actions on behalf of that group.
To contact a Group Lead Volunteer you can do so by clicking or copying their email. If you are wanting to contact the group, please visit the appropriate group page.
How local groups run
Within our local Scout Groups, there will be a number of adult leaders, who give their time voluntarily to help the development of young people. The Group is led by the Group Lead Volunteer, whose job is to co-ordinate the Group’s activities and to ensure continuity and development.
The Group’s Scout Council meets at least once a year usually for an Annual General Meeting (AGM). The Council consists of:
- all the adult Members of the Group,
- parents and carers of the young people in the Group,
- Patrol leaders of the Troops,
- Explorers and their parents or carers (if there is a partnership between the Explorer Unit, Group and District),
- the sponsoring authority,
- the District Lead Volunteer,
- the District Chair.
Our local Scout Groups also have a Trustee Board, who make sure the charity is well managed, risks are assessed and mitigated, buildings and equipment are in good working order, and everyone follows legal requirements and Policy, Organisation and Rules (POR).
The Trustee Board consists of the Chair, Treasurer, Ex officio Trustees, Appointed Trustees, Co-opted Trustees and Secretary (if appointed as a Trustee).
Local Group Structure
Scout Groups help volunteers work well together and keep them feeling motivated across Squirrel, Beaver, Cub, and Scout Sections. They make sure the Group is respected and supported in their local community. Each local Scout group is split up a Group Leadership Team, Trustee Board and Section Team.
The Group Leadership Team helps volunteers across all Sections work well together and feel motivated. They make sure the Group is respected and supported in their local community.
The Section Team run the section programmes. They’re at the heart of Scouts’ work with young people and are supported by people outside of Scouts, who informally help run part of the programme.
The Trustee Board makes sure the charity (the Scout Group) is well managed, risks are assessed and mitigated, buildings and equipment are in good working order, and everyone follows legal requirements and Policy, Organisation and Rules (POR).
