It’s Grim Up T’North – recharge your batteries for the Scouting year ahead

A West Yorkshire Scouts favourite is back!
It’s Grim Up T’North was previously an annual event in the West Yorkshire Scouts County calendar, but after a few years away, we’re bringing it back for 2026.
Think of it as a Yorkshire take on the Gilwell Reunion – a weekend to step away from the day-to-day, have some fun, learn something new and recharge your Scouting batteries.
Whether you want to pick up some new skills, discover new programme ideas, have a go at activities you don’t normally get the chance to do, swap ideas and experiences with other volunteers, or simply enjoy some well-earned downtime, this weekend is for you.
The main programme is on Saturday, with a packed choice of activities and sessions, including backwoods, knotting and pioneering, campfire skills, information and skills sessions, wide games and other activities.
There’ll also be plenty of opportunities to relax and enjoy the weekend, with a pub quiz and cheesy disco on Friday night, campfire, wine tasting and live entertainment from Playing for Kicks on Saturday evening.
Sunday morning gives you another chance to get involved with more activities, wide games, the camp challenge and a selection of information sessions, before we finish at lunchtime.
Whether you come along to find inspiration for your section, learn something new, meet other volunteers, try something you wouldn’t normally get the chance to do, or just have a brilliant weekend with fellow members of West Yorkshire Scouts, Grim Up T’North is your chance to recharge, reset and get ready for the Scouting year ahead.
